David Meister’s latest collections come long, short and sometimes both, in shades of black, violet, navy, red and print.

AS THE HOLIDAY SEASON APPROACHES, designer David Meister’s new holiday and resort collections may make a timely addition to your wardrobe. He designs with one important item in mind: fit.

The Ohio-born, Los Angeles-based designer is known for sophisticated, beautiful, body-conscious women’s wear. His list of devotees is starry, lengthy and multigenerational: Sophia Bush, Fergie, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda, Diane Lane,  Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Demi Lovato, Jane Lynch, Amy Poehler, Queen Latifah, Octavia Spencer, Sharon Stone, Sofia Vergara and Sigourney Weaver, among others.

This season, the 55-year-old Meister has designed a dress for every holiday occasion — daytime holiday luncheon; elegant winter gown; or glitzy New Year’s Eve cocktail dress. His 2018 resort collection includes day dresses, cocktail dresses and gowns.

His 2017 holiday and 2018 resort collections ($395-$995) are carried by Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Dillard’s, as well as some specialty stores and at davidmeister.com.

Meister has a philanthropic side, as well. He’s a long-standing member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, a nonprofit trade association, and an ambassador for Dress for Success, the international nonprofit that helps women achieve economic independence.

Meister has been honored at Fashion for Life, a benefit for Friendly House in Los Angeles, which helps women recover from drug and alcohol addiction and as a Susan G. Komen Men in Pink Ties event in 2011.
