Five chefs, five sommeliers, 11 years and one goal. That invite is meant to entice you to attend Give Me Five, an Aug. 27 culinary event that will benefit No Kid Hungry.
The No Kid Hungry campaign connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. Its goal is to make ending hunger a national priority. One in six American children, it says, struggles with hunger every day.
The Give Me Five benefit, at the Atlanta Athletic Club, includes a cocktail reception, a five-course dinner with wine pairings, and a live auction. The chefs taking part are Morey Anderson of the Atlanta Athletic Club, Christian Castillo of Atlas, Charlie Hatney of Charlie Hatney & Co., Aaron Masanotti of the Merion and Todd Richards of Richards’ Southern Fried. They’re led by master chef Daryl Shular of the Atlanta Athletic Club.
The sommeliers taking part are Jacob Gragg of Cru Artisan Wines, Andres Loaiza of Aria, Christopher Lodge of Atlanta and Maggie Meroney of the Capital City Club, led by Gil Kulers of the Piedmont Driving Club
For a taste of what you’ll taste, consider the 2016 menu:
- Hors d’oeuvres — Pimento cheese, smoked bacon on buttered saltine crackers; and smoked trout rillette, cornmeal cracker, dill and trout roe.
- First course — Hamachi (Pacific yellowtail) served in sea water with lemon.

Hello!
I won the tickets for the Give Me Five dinner and was inquiring regarding the attire required for my husband. Is a jacket and tie required ?
Thank you again!
Valarie Sellers
Hi Valarie,
The dress code for the Give Me Five dinner is cocktail attire, and they recommend a coat and tie for men.
I hope you enjoy the benefit!
