The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown features a high school grad who has everything a teenager wants: brains, a boyfriend, functional parents and an acceptance letter to the college of her choice. Her bags are packed, and she’s ready to take off, but for some reason, she can’t turn the key in the ignition. Before she can drive toward adulthood, it seems that Sam must come to terms with her parents’ expectations, her first love and a lost friendship. Kylie Brown plays Samantha, with Stephanie Friedman (Pluto at Actor’s Express) as her best friend and Wendy Melkonian as her mom. Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville gives this 2009 musical its regional premiere. Aurora is a great place to see theater — a beautiful space in a walkable downtown area with free parking.
