Atlanta-based Théâtre du Rêve will present Molière’s classic comedy, Le Malade Imaginaire (The Imaginary Invalid) Feb. 16-25 at the 7 Stages Black Box Theatre.

Théâtre du Rêve (which translates as “theater of the dream”) is a professional theater company that brings French language and Francophone culture to life on the American stage.

Considered one of the writer’s most noted satires, the story follows the wealthy Argan, who has fallen under the spell of a prestigious but crooked doctor who’s milking him for all he’s worth.

To save money and continue to get care, Argan plans to marry his daughter Angélique to a young doctor. The problem is, Angélique is already in love with another. It’s up to Argan’s clever household servant Toinette to pull enough strings to straighten everything out.
