Throughout the month of January, the Children’s Museum of Atlanta will honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with activities and other special events planned.

Families can follow in Dr. King’s footsteps, learning about his leadership in the civil and environmental rights movements, as well as practice building bridges and hear his dream for America.

Children can also tap into their creative side with Kid Creator programs, during which they will hear stories written by kids their age, learn all about the world of germs, paint self-portraits and build hero robots.

Also in January, budding inventors can learn about kid creator Mark Leschinsky’s patented self-disinfecting Hazmat Suit while discovering information about their health. And through the magic of Glo Germ Gel and blacklights, children can test how clean their hands truly are.

Meanwhile, older children can make their own watercolor copies of Boris Chaliapin’s famous portrait of Dr. King while they learn about the history of the painting. Younger guests will have a chance to color in “bubble letter” quotes.
