“Villa Rica is one of those towns that if you blink you could miss it as you are driving by,” says Wartime Paranormal co-owner Jessica Johns. But small towns can have big secrets, and Villa Rica is no exception. Wartime Paranormal’s Ghosts and Gold tour explores that eerie past with two-hour walking tours of the town that will be offered eight times a week throughout the month of October.
Located an hour from Atlanta, Villa Rica was the site of America’s first real gold rush and is a supposed hotbed of paranormal activity. Ghostly activity in the town’s Glimmer Salon has scared customers away in the middle of their haircuts. A man killed at Wicks Tavern in a bar fight is said to still haunt the room. The two-hour walking tour explores these sites as well as the town’s history.
The official kick-off tour on Oct. 1 will feature guest host Dustin Pari of Syfy Channel’s “Ghost Hunters” and “Ghost Hunters International.” During October, the tours will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights.
