Messrs. Petrenko and Gerstein are totally simpatico in Shostakovich’s cinematic showstopper. Elgar’s spirited and joyous tribute to London provides a jaunty preface and Rachmaninov’s tour de force of the late Romantic era an awe-inspiring finale.
