Atlanta Ballet will offer two new world-premiere ballets as part of a program titled Liquid Motion, May 10-12.
The program includes Nighthawks, with music by award-winning jazz musician Wynton Marsalis and choreography by choreographer-in-residence Claudia Schreier, which reflects the complexities, diversity and fast pace of modern city life.
With artistic collaborations from Atlanta-based muralist Charity Hamidullah and costume designer Abigail Dupree-Polston, the ballet embraces colorful palettes, abstract imagery and cosmopolitan influences, presenting “a visual and harmonious narrative steeped in emotion, relationships and life.”
The second ballet is Yellow, with music by Ludwig van Beethoven (Piano Sonata No. 29 in B-Flat Major) and choreography by Brazilian up-and-coming Juliano Nunes. This world premiere takes inspiration from the color yellow, revealing the different genres of Nunes’ creativity.
