The Legacy Theatre will stage the beloved musical Annie, July 5 through Aug. 24.

Based on the popular 1924 comic strip “Little Orphan Annie” by Harold Gray, the original Broadway production opened in 1977 and the musical has become a staple on stages around the world ever since.

Set against the backdrop of 1930s New York City, Annie follows a spunky orphan with an unwavering belief that “the sun will come out tomorrow” and good things are ahead. When Annie finds herself in the clutches of the cantankerous Miss Hannigan, her luck takes a turn for the better when she is chosen to spend the holidays with billionaire Oliver Warbucks.

The iconic score, with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, includes favorites such as “Maybe,” “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile,” “Easy Street,” and the eternal anthem of optimism, “Tomorrow.”

Playing the title role is Camden Petrello, who has been a student of Legacy’s Performing Arts Conservatory since 2017. The show also stars Mandy Corbett as Miss Hannigan, Brandin Jay as Daddy Warbucks and Sydney Peebler as Grace.
