It’s Christmas time around the Atlanta Ballet, which means the magical world of The Nutcracker will once again be conjured at the Cobb Energy Centre, Dec. 8-26.
This larger-than-life production is a winter wonderland where falling snowflakes, twirling flowers and spinning stars guide Marie and her Nutcracker Prince through a dream-like world of delights, amplified by traditional stage magic and state-of-the-art technology.
For Atlanta Ballet’s staging of Tchaikovsky’s classic holiday show, the ballet’s setting is a charming German city on Christmas Eve. The show incorporates elements from E.T.A. Hoffmann’s 1816 story, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.
The two-act ballet, choreographed by Yuri Possokhov, utilizes elaborately crafted scenery combined with advanced techniques in lighting and video projection to enhance the story’s wonder.
