City Springs Theatre has announced a reimagined ’20-’21 season, kicking off with a streamed Broadway concert series through December, with plans to resume live musicals in the Byers Theatre March.

Created by Shane DeLancey and arranged by Billy Payne, the concert series replaces two previously announced Fall 2020 musicals at the Byers Theatre.

City Springs Theatre showcases the bright lights and shining stars of the Broadway stage in a musical celebration featuring dozens of classic hits. Les Misérables, The Sound of Music, Gypsy, Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, The King and I, Kiss Me Kate, and A Chorus Line are just a few of the titles from which we reminisce our return to the theatre.

Directed by Broadway’s David Rossetti, City Springs Theatre rewinds the clock and takes us back to the jukebox jams that have reinvigorated and reimagined the Broadway stage. From such shows as Jersey BoysBeautifulAin’t Too ProudMamma Mia!, and Smokey Joe’s Café, this high-energy revue of pop hits includes, “Hound Dog,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Dancing Queen,” “Natural Woman,” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and many more.

MISTLETOE MAGIC

MAMMA MIA!

March 12-21, 2021

Our third season opens with this International hit musical, featuring the songs of Swedish supergroup ABBA. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the Greek island they all visited 20 years ago. Featuring such hits songs as “Dancing Queen,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “Knowing Me, Knowing You” and “Waterloo.”

INTO THE WOODS

May 7-16, 2021

Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s modern classic hits the Byers Theatre stage in a colorful and elegant production. Everyone’s favorite storybook characters come together in this epic fairytale about wishes, family and the choices we make. More than 30 years after its debut, INTO THE WOODS is still one of Sondheim’s most popular shows, with memorable songs such as “Agony,” “Children Will Listen,” and “Giants in the Sky.”

WEST SIDE STORY

July 9-18, 2021

As relevant today as when it premiered in 1957, West Side Story is widely regarded as among the best musicals ever written. This landmark Broadway musical transports Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to modern-day New York City as two young, idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, struggling to survive in a world of hate, violence, and prejudice. Leonard Bernstein’s captivating score features immortal songs such as “Tonight,” “Something’s Coming,” and “Somewhere.”
