Broadway talent is yet again coming to Atlanta this fall.
The company of the Alliance Theatre is currently rehearsing the world premiere musical Becoming Nancy in preparation for a September 6-October 6 run. Under the direction of Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Hairspray), Becoming Nancy features music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe and book by Elliot Davis. The piece will premiere on the new Coca-Cola stage in the Woodruff Arts Center.

Official Summary from AllianceTheatre.org
It’s 1979 in the south London suburb of East Dulwich, and David Starr has just been given the female lead in his high school’s play. The unconventional casting sends shockwaves through David’s small town, first with David and then with his parents, his aunt, and his classmates. Before long, it seems like everybody has an opinion on whether David should go on with the show. Becoming Nancy is a new musical that weaves a story of family bonds, first loves, and the courage it takes to find your own spotlight.
