In Theatrical Outfit’s 110 in the Shade, it’s July 4th, 1936, in Three Point, Texas, where an unrelenting heat wave has the locals praying for rain. Lizzie Curry daydreams away fears of becoming a spinster; her wit, intelligence and homemaking skills, it seems, don’t portend a romantic future. When a charismatic rainmaker named Starbuck sweeps into town promising more than just atmospheric relief, Lizzie’s world becomes larger than she ever imagined possible. The 1964 Harvey Schmidt-Tom Jones musical (The Fantasticks, I Do! I Do!) was revived on Broadway in 2007 with Audra McDonald as Lizzie. The Outfit cast features some great Atlanta talent: Lowrey Brown, Galen Crawley, Devon Hales, Ayana Reed, Eugene H. Russell IV, LaParee Young and Jeremy Wood.
