Go medieval at the 31st annual Georgia Renaissance Festival, popping up in Fairburn for its annual rite of PG-13 debauchery. As you step inside the gates of 16th-century Newcastle, you’ll encounter a 32-acre village with more than 150 artisan craft shoppes, 10 entertainment stages, pubs and taverns, and such tasty tidbits as giant roasted turkey legs, hearty ales and meads. Nearly 1,000 costumed rakes, harlequins, ne’er-do-wells, infidels, knights and wenches await you with jousting, falconry, inquisitions, swordplay and carnival games. The 2017 festival runs April 14-June 4 and is open 10:30 a.m. Saturday-Sunday plus Memorial Day. Fairburn/Newcastle is about 13 miles southwest of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
