Atlanta’s much-honored Fox Theatre has bestowed an accolade of its own — naming its No. 1 fan.
Palmetto resident Sharon Frank’s story was chosen out of hundreds of entries via social media in the “Fox Theatre Biggest Fan Contest.” Her winning tale relates a first date at the Fox in 1967, an event that started two long-term relationships: her marriage and a lifelong connection with the Fox, which became one of their favorite places during the past five decades.
“I will always have a special fondness for the Fox,” Frank says. “I feel like I am a member of the Fox family.”
The contest was part of an ongoing effort to mark the 40th anniversary of the “Save the Fox” campaign, which revitalized the property and established it as a central venue for theater, film and live performances.
Frank’s prize package includes Delta flight vouchers, backstage Fox tours, tickets to such events as the Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival, memorabilia, merchandise and her name on the marquee.
