Woof!

No dog should have to wear a Santa hat at home when he or she can gather with like-minded pups at the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s fifth annual Reindog Parade.

On Dec. 8, canine owners can bring their pets to the Garden — the only day of the year pups can set paws on the property. Beginning at 11 a.m., holiday-attired pets will parade before a panel of local celebrity judges to compete for prizes including Best Puppy and Adult, Best Botanical, Best Dog and Owner Dress-a-Like, Best Dog Pack and Best in Show.

A Doggie Expo will offer canine-centric products and information, and dogs will be able to get their photos taken and tell St. Nick which rawhide bone they’d like for Christmas.

Dogs must be pre-registered for the event. The cost, in addition to regular Garden admission, is $15 per dog or $18 at the door, with a maximum of two dogs per owner. Regular Garden admission is $18.95; $12.95 for ages 3-12; and under 3 free.

The Garden, on Piedmont Avenue in Midtown Atlanta, will celebrate the holidays this year with its ticketed “Garden Lights, Holiday Nights” event running Nov. 17-Jan. 5. Displays are created with more than 1.5 million lights. Details at www.atlantabotanicalgarden.org or reindog@atlantabotanicalgarden.org.
