The Atlanta History Center is partnering with the Smithsonian National Museum of African-American History and Culture to bring the Apollo Theater to local audiences. The exhibit Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing: How the Apollo Theater Shaped American Entertainment is coming to the Atlanta History Center from Oct. 8 to March 4.
The show will chronicle the theater’s development and features film and video installations as well as costumes, playbills, music scores, images, recorded music and other artifacts. Special attractions will include Michael Jackson’s fedora, Sammy Davis Jr.’s childhood tap shoes, and James Brown’s cape and jumpsuit
