Kim’s Convenience, the play by Ins Choi that inspired the Netflix television hit of the same name, is playing at The Lawrenceville Arts Center’s Aurora Theatre through Feb. 19.

The comedy follows a family-run Korean-owned convenience store in Toronto’s Regent Park neighborhood. When Mr. Kim, the head of the family, receives an interesting offer for his business, he must choose between taking the money from the big city developers or keeping the store’s legacy going. But for that, he would need to convince his aspiring-photographer daughter to follow in his footsteps.

James Yi stars as Mr. Kim, with Yingling Zhu playing his wife, Umma, Caroline Donica taking on daughter Janet, and Ryan Vo performing the role of son, Jung. Lamar Cheston will play both Rich and Mr. Lee.

Rebecca Wear serves as director of the production.
