Theatre is all about collaboration, and some of our intown Atlanta theatre companies are taking that concept up a notch.
The managing directors of Theatrical Outfit (TO), Actor’s Express, and Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company have decided to join forces and establish a shared production shop space. Made possible by a $50,000 grant given to TO by the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta’s Strategic Restructuring Fund, this will allow the theatres to save on the increasingly high costs of set construction space. The theatres have not announced when or where their new shop will open. In the future, the theatres plan to share a long-term shop and storage space in Atlanta and even include a training aspect to cater to budding theatre production students.
The TO team is “enormously grateful” to the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, saying, “The end result promises to be a fruitful endeavor which will support the missions of our theatres as we seek to impact the community of greater Atlanta with great art on our stages and engagement with all individuals in our community.”
