In celebration of its 80th season, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will play a free concert at Piedmont Park’s Oak Hill at 7:30 p.m., on Sept. 10.

The performance will be conducted by William R. Langley and will feature a selection of orchestral faves and offer a special preview of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s two-season epic endeavor, the Beethoven Project.

Selections for the evening will include movements from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, and additional works by Jesse Montgomery and Adolphus Hailstork.

“We’re so pleased to be able to return to Piedmont Park to share great music under the stars each year,” said Jennifer Barlament, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s executive director. “I can’t think of a better way, or a better place, to kick off the season than a concert for so many of our beloved Atlantans in the jewel in the crown of Atlanta’s parks.”

Seating is first-come, first-served, so attendees are encouraged to get to the part early, as it’s always a packed event. Admission is free and tickets are not required.

The night will also include food trucks on hand and family-friendly activities will be hosted by the ASO Education and Community Engagement Department.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Concerts in the Park are presented by the Charles Loridans Foundation, Inc., with support provided by the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, Fulton County Arts and Culture, the Georgia Council for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
