The Tennessee Performing Arts Center has announced its upcoming fall family series, and there’s something for people of all ages to enjoy.

The nonprofit will offer a thrilling lineup of family-friendly shows that will excite children and help instill a love of the arts.

Things kick off on Oct. 27, with Sugar Skull: a Día de Muertos Musical Adventure, a show that combines live music, dance and puppetry as it celebrates the vibrant traditions of Mexico and the Mexican culture. The bilingual musical relies on traditional regional music and dance from Mexico to tell the story of 12-year-old Vita Flores, who feels as if her family has gone crazy planning a celebration for deceased loved ones. But when a spirited candy skeleton suddenly springs to life, the young girl finds herself on a magical, musical journey to unravel the true meaning of Día de Muertos.

On Nov. 3, the beloved puppets from Sesame Street arrive as part of the musical, Sesame Street Live! Say Hello, with two performances at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. In the show, favorites such as Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster and Big Bird sing, dance and play, as they bring laughter to everyone in the audience.

As the holidays get closer, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical will be performed on Nov. 23. The heartwarming musical follows the timeless tale of Rudolph who is joined by a holly jolly cast of iconic characters including Hermey the Elf, Yukon Cornelius and the Abominable Snow Monster as they once again work with Santa to save Christmas.

“We’re thrilled to present an exciting lineup of theatrical performances for the entire family this season,” said Jennifer Turner, TPAC’s president and CEO. “From classic stories to exciting new adventures, families can come together and create lasting memories while enjoying the magic of live theatre. Whether it is your child’s first live performance, or they already love seeing stories come to life on the stage, TPAC is truly a place for everyone.”
