While Wicked continues to wow audiences in its 20th year on Broadway, theatre fans in Atlanta don’t need to travel to New York City to see the beloved show. The Fox Theatre will be welcoming the touring production of the long-running spectacular to its stage from July 5-30.
With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman, Wicked follows what happens in the Land of Oz before Dorothy ever arrives. The musical introduces audiences to two unlikely friends—Elphaba and Glinda, whose relationship starts off rocky, but then grows into a strong bond. The show follows the pair as they look to harness their powers, meet the Wizard and try to leave their mark on the world.
The musical stars Olivia Valli and Celia Hottenstein as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively, who show an interesting turn of events of the two young witches in a prequel to the legendary film, The Wizard of Oz.
Wicked is being made into a two-part movie, scheduled to be released in 2024 and 2025, but there’s nothing like seeing it live on stage.
