Tina Turner is considered the Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll with a collection of hits that includes “River Deep, Mountain High,” “Private Dancer” and “Proud Mary.” But her legendary career had plenty of bumps in the road, with an abusive husband in Ike Turner and barriers that made it hard for her to rise in the music industry.
The Fox Theatre will present her triumphant story in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, a jukebox musical that wowed Broadway audiences in 2019. The show will be staged Feb. 21-26.
Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Katori Hall and directed by the internationally acclaimed Phyllida Lloyd, the show depicts Turner’s life from her humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tenn., to her transformation as a rock goddess, and includes all of her biggest hits.
