City Springs Theatre Company continues its inaugural season with Hairspray, the 2003 Tony-winning best musical with a kicking 1960s-style score. The story comes from John Waters’ 1988 movie about a plump, big-haired teenager named Tracy Turnblad and her dreams of dancing on the local teenage TV dance show. The bright and funny musical has a serious side, too, touching on issues of body-shaming and racism. The score includes “Good Morning Baltimore,” “The Nicest Kids in Town,” “Big, Blonde & Beautiful” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat.”
