“Ladies and gentlemen, leave your troubles outside. So life is disappointing? Forget it! In here, life is beautiful. The girls are beautiful. Even the orchestra is beautiful.”

With those words, the Emcee will invite you inside Serenbe Playhouse’s outdoor summer finale, the multi-award-winning musical Cabaret. It’s Berlin. 1931. And the Nazis are taking over. At the squalid Kit Kat Klub, a young American writer pursues an English cabaret singer and all goings-on are overseen by that androgynous, see-no-evil, hear-no-evil Emcee. The John Kander-Fred Ebb score includes “Don’t Tell Mama,” “Perfectly Marvelous” and “Tomorrow Belongs to Me.” Is everybody happy?
