What do you do when your Elvis act gets the ax? That’s the question facing a man named Casey (the terrific Nick Arapoglou) in The Legend of Georgia McBride at Actor’s Express. He has a pregnant wife, an empty bank account and an eviction notice on the way. His answer: trading his jumpsuit for sequins and lashes and becoming the Florida Panhandle’s newest drag queen. This musical comedy, described by The New York Times as “a stitch-in-your-side funny, first-rate production full of sass and good spirits,” is the work of Matthew Lopez, the playwright behind the much more serious Civil War drama The Whipping Man (seen at the Alliance Theatre in 2013).
