Before Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote Hamilton, he brought In the Heights to Broadway, a musical set in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood. The Tony- and Grammy Award-winning show features Caribbean rhythms, vibrant hip-hop and lyrical melodies and tells a universal story of a Latin community where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries a current of change. This production repeats the Aurora Theatre/Theatrical Outfit partnership that brought us last season’s Memphis. In the Heights plays this month at Aurora in Lawrenceville; the Outfit performances, in the Rialto Center for the Arts, happen in September.
