marcus-1This is one not to miss! Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet — now at Actor’s Expressis part of the Brothers/Sisters trilogy by prodigiously talented American playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney. Atlanta audiences might remember his In the Red and Brown Water, the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition winner in 2007, or his Choir Boy, staged early in the Alliance Theatre’s 2013-14 season. Since then, McCraney has gone on to win awards and gain acclaim, including a MacArthur “genius” grant in 2013. In Marcus, a young African-American in the Louisiana bayou begins discovering his sexual identity. The journey includes looking at the secrets of his family’s past so he can understand his future. Highly, highly recommended. (Pictured: Terry Guest as Marcus. Photo by BreeAnne Clowdus)
