This week's best bets: Nov. 13

Topping our list this week: “Murder Ballad,” “Murder Ballad,” “Murder Ballad.” Plus, the ASO returns (if you can get a ticket) and Dad’s Garage opens the one-man “Morgan Freeman Presents …,” which looks at how the media represents black men, touching on everything from Dr. Seuss and Uncle Ben, to prison, white flight, Aunt Jemima and Black Jesus. Sounds intriguing, no? And ambitious.

This weekend's best bets: Nov. 14

The world premiere of “Pluto” at Actor’s Express is clearly among the best shows thus far this season. I wouldn’t miss it, and only two weeks remain. Worth checking out: Fern Theatre’s all-female “Macbeth”; “Phone Whore,” brought to you by the Atlanta Fringe Festival; and the final performance of Out of Hand’s “Salome.” And don’t look now, but here come the Christmas shows.

If we could see one thing this weekend, it’d be “Wolves” at Actor’s Express. Also high on the list: the ASO and Beethoven’s Fifth, “Titus Clown!” by Out of Hand Theater and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” at the Center for Puppetry Arts. Last chance: “Two Drink Minimum” at Theatrical Outfit.
