The Fox Theatre will once again be presenting its fan-favorite Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival, which honors the venue’s legacy as a premier movie palace in Atlanta. Among the planned films: West Side Story, Casablanca and Bohemian Rhapsody.
This year’s festival kicks off with a mystery selection on Friday, Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m., but it promises to be something that the whole family will enjoy.
On Saturday, Aug. 24, the day begins with a screening of The Little Mermaid at 1 p.m., and audience members are invited to sing along to the movie. The singing will continue later in the evening with Queens fans encouraged to sing along during a screening of the 2018 hit, Bohemian Rhapsody. The movie begins at 7:30 p.m.
Classic films are on the agenda for Sunday, Aug. 25, with a showing of the 1942 award-winning Casablanca at 1 p.m., followed by the original 1961 version of West Side Story at 4 p.m.
All films will be screened on an impressive 26-by-56-foot screen, under the Fox Theatre’s distinctive blue sky with twinkling stars and fluffy clouds.
Prior to select showings, attendees will have the opportunity to attend a magical pre-show experience, which will include a sing-along with a vintage cartoon and performances on the world-renowned “Mighty Mo” organ.
In conjunction with the Coca-Cola Film Festival experience, the Fox Theatre will also be offering exclusive film tours before all film showings, where guests will take a one-hour guided tour through the theatre’s original projection booth, screening room, celebrity dressing rooms, and more.
