BREAD IS BAKED in this Alliance Theatre world premiere. Knead, a one-woman piece written and performed by two-time Suzi Bass Award-winning actor Mary Lynn Owen, takes place in the wee hours. A woman is trying to bake bread from her mother’s incomprehensible recipe. But time and memory keep getting in the way, and the bread-baking process — the kneading, the rising, the shaping and the baking, all in real time — becomes a journey into unpredictability. This script, Owen’s first, was developed in the Alliance’s Reiser Atlanta Artists Lab and was a semifinalist for the O’Neill National Playwrights Conference in Waterford, Conn.
