ELIE TAHARI exemplifies the American Dream. He came to this country with only his talent and drive. They propelled him to build a fashion empire in the mid-1970s. Today, he’s a successful, beloved and respected designer.

During a visit to Saks Fifth Avenue in Atlanta, where a runway show featured his fall 2018 ready-to-wear collection, the Iranian-Israeli designer made time to visit with Fashionado’s E. Vincent Martinez.

Tahari, 66, spoke about his early days in New York City and working at a women’s boutique, which motivated him to join the fashion industry. He also shared his thoughts about womenswear, menswear, trends, where he finds his inspiration and a sneak peek into his 2019 plans.
