The Alliance Theatre has opened its 50th anniversary season with Winnie-the-Pooh, a family musical based on the A.A. Milne books. Journey through the fanciful Hundred Acre Wood with Pooh, Piglet, Rabbit, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo and Owl as one adventure turns into another, friendship and simplicity triumph, and a certain donkey loses his tail and celebrates a birthday. Grant Chapman and Joe Sykes (both seen in Angels in America at Actor’s Express) are Pooh and Donkey, respectively. They’re joined by other faces you might know: Isake Akanke as Rabbit, Caleb Baumann as Christopher Robin, CJ Cooper as Roo, Maria Rodriguez-Sager as Kanga and Mabel Tyler as Piglet. This is a show for grown-ups as well as children.
