LA Fashion Week holds its 2018 spring/summer runway presentations Oct. 4-8 at the Alexandria Ballrooms downtown. The event, a partnership with Vogue International, Style & Society and Destination Luxury, will feature nearly 20 award-winning designers and artists from Los Angeles and around the world.

Michelle and Barack Obama recently recognized the LA Fashion Week team and executive producer Arthur T. Chipman as industry innovators and for “raising awareness of cultural diversity and creativity in the United States.”

“L.A. is going through a cultural renaissance,” Chipman says, “and we are excited to be a driving force behind its development. Our city is surging with energy and artistic talent, and we cannot wait to unveil this season’s offerings.”

The goal of LA Fashion Week, say organizers, is to create a divergent crossroads of distinct California and international labels and designers. Among those showcasing new lines:

  • Georgian designer Lela Eloshi, who signifies elegance and confidence and is making her U.S. debut.
  • Indonesian designer Rinda Salmun, known for infusing natural elements into her contemporary high-end looks, who returns for a second season.
  • L.A.-based artists Bryan Yazzie, known for his cutting-edge use of fluorescent visuals, and pop art pioneer Rolland Berry.

LAFW designers represent the ever-changing landscape of fashion, organizers say, with experimental work from such L.A.-based brands as Radka Salcmannova and George Styler, and the Amsterdam-based design duo MaryMe-JimmyPaul.

Such international labels as Asava Group (Thailand), Milin (Thailand) and Jeffry Tan (Indonesia) will showcase designs, as will the heavy-hitting global streetwear brand Issue ThailandSav Lavin (Indonesia) and B-yo (Indonesia).

SS18 season’s partners include Kiss Cosmetics, Swarovski, Living Proof Hair Care, Passion Roses, the Royal Thai Consulate and the Indonesian Consulate of Los Angeles.
