bulldurham_showar_crop-2Grab your glove, a hot dog or maybe just an icy beverage and join us at 10:30 a.m. Friday for a half-hour Google chat about Bull Durham, opening soon at the Alliance Theatre. We’ll get the back story on this world premiere musical from Celise Kalke, the theater’s director of new projects, and maybe — no promises here — one of the onstage Durham Bulls.

It will be fun. We promise. Sign up HERE and use that link to join us. You’ll be able to watch, follow along and ask your own questions. The chat will then be archived so you can see it again and again.

You know Bull Durham, the 1988 hit movie; this version adds song and dance to the ballet that is Major League Baseball. And, it has has all the earmarks of a show with Broadway aspirations. The 27-member cast is led by Will Swenson (Hair, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Les Miserables) as washed-up catcher “Crash” Davis; John Behlmann as “Nuke” LaLoosh, the hot pitching prospect with a million-dollar arm and a 5-cent brain; and Melissa Errico (My Fair Lady, High Society, Dracula, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas) as Annie Savoy, the Durham Bulls’ high priestess of baseball.

Batter up!
