04_seuss37_dDr. Seuss, aka Theodor Seuss Geisel, would be 110 years old Sunday and although he died in 1991, his 46 children’s books are ageless: The Cat in the Hat; Green Eggs and Ham; Horton Hears a Who; Oh, the Places You’ll Go; One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish; Yertle the Turtle.

The rhyming writer, a cartoonist who illustrated his own books, will be celebrated Monday at Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta, which is partnering with the National Education Association’s Read Across America program. The program began as a Green Eggs and Ham read-in 17 years ago and has expanded to promote the power of all books.

The museum in downtown Atlanta begins the reading party for ages 8 and younger at 11 a.m. Monday with guest reader John D. Barge, Georgia superintendent of schools. Admission is free for members; $12.75 plus fees for age 1 and older.

Festivities continue until 3 p.m. and include a bookmark craft class, a Stray Cat Strut with the Cat in the Hat and a reading of The Cat in the Hat Comes Back.

All comers are invited to suit up in their best Seussian attire and/or favorite character. The museum is at 275 Centennial Olympic Park Drive N.W. Details HERE.
