The greater Atlanta metropolitan area is home to numerous private college preparatory schools. Many of these schools hold Open House nights, or offer school tours for potential applicants and their parents to learn more. Encore Atlanta has put together a guide to some of the city’s finest.
Atlanta Country Day School
Atlanta Country Day School (ADS) began as a tutorial program in 1977 and evolved into a private high school in 1982. Students are accepted on a rolling basis. Grades 7 through 12. Call 770-998-0311 to schedule an informational tour.

The Friends School of Atlanta
The only Quaker school in Georgia, the Friends School of Atlanta was founded in 1991. The Galloway School

Greenfield Hebrew Academy
The oldest accredited Jewish day school in the country, Greenfield Hebrew Academy combines Judaic and general studies in a traditional, challenging curriculum that emphasizes the importance of balancing cognitive, moral, physical, emotional and social development. The Howard School
The Howard School educates students with language learning disabilities and differences. Instruction is personalized to complement individual learning styles, to address student needs, and to help each student understand his or her learning process. The Paideia School was founded in 1971 by parents who wanted an individualized, creative, and intellectually challenging education for their children. Prospective parent meetings will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6 and Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 7:30-9 p.m. in the Paideia Theater. Headmaster Paul Bianchi conducts these informational meetings for parents. Woodward is the largest independent school in the continental United States, with approximately 2,900 students who come from the 24 metro Atlanta counties within a 50-mile radius of its Main Campus in College Park.
