Josh FlagRed Badge of Courage, a stage version of Stephen Crane’s epic Civil War novel, opens tonight at 7 Stages. Encore Atlanta invites you to go backstage live … tonight … before the curtain.

At 6 p.m., via Google Hangout, we’ll visit with co-creators Michael Haverty and Jane Barnette. Their adaptation immerses the audience in the action with live actors, tabletop puppetry, projections and animation. Haverty is associate artistic director at 7 Stages; Barnette is a theatermaker, dramaturg and instructor at Kennesaw State University. Red Badge is a co-production of 7 Stages and KSU.

If you can’t join us, you can check out the conversation at your leisure HERE.

Red Badge tells the story of a Union private named Henry Fleming, who runs from the field of battle. Overcome with shame, he longs for a wound — a “red badge of courage” — to counteract his cowardice. The show runs through March 23, with performances at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday; and 5 p.m. Sunday. Details HERE.
