Oh, those summer nights! Want to spend an evening hand-jiving with a few thousand Grease groupies? Here’s your chance: The Fox Theatre will screen 1978’s most tuneful teen film, complete with on-screen lyrics and supportive, costumed “sing-along Greasers,” on July 27.

Because a mere living room is no longer large enough to hold many fans’ belt-it-out-loud love for the movie musical, producer Ben Freedman (who gave us the Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music) created Sing-a-long-a Grease (and yes, the extra “a” is part of the title)

The interactive show starts at 7:30 p.m. A fun-film host will give the audience hand-jive lessons and judge the costume competition. Did we not mention there’s a costume competition? There’s a costume competition. Come looking as cool as your favorite 1950s’ T-Bird or Pink Lady (pink wigs, slicked-back hair welcome), and you can win prizes and, just possibly, a hopelessly devoted following of your own. There are worse things you could do.

Tickets ($15 advance, $20 day of show) on sale HERE, at 1.855.ATL.TIXX or at the Fox box office, 660 Peachtree St. N.E. The box office is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

The sing-along is part of the annual Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival, which will screen 15 or so movies from mid-June to the end of August. Those titles will be released any … day … now.
