Got a family? Want a free event? With cake?

If your answer to any of those questions is yes, you might consider heading over to Georgia Shakespeare on Saturday (April 21) to celebrate the renowned playwright’s 448th birthday.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the grounds of the Conant Performing Arts Center at Oglethorpe University will be alive with arts and crafts, performances, a bouncy house, music, a visit from the queen and … birthday cake! And just for one day, partygoers can buy half-price tickets ($6, normally $13) to Georgia Shakes’ Family Classic Series production of The Emperor and the Nightingale. Visit the box office to get this gift to you. If it rains, everything moves inside except the bouncy house.

The free family event celebrates is sponsored by the Junior League of Atlanta and Atlanta Parent magazine. Georgia Shakespeare and the Conant are at 4484 Peachtree Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA  30319.
