Young Audiences on Friday presents a poetry slam competition at the Woodruff Arts Center, the culminating event for Teen Slam, an arts-integrated literacy partnership with the Alliance Theatre and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta.

Teaching artists, in residency with three groups of metro high school students, took the teens through 10 workshops, teaching them to express themselves through literary and slam/performance poetry. The teens come from the Douglas, East DeKalb and Warren Boys & Girls Clubs.

See the results as the teenage poets perform original works at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Hill Auditorium, 1280 Peachtree St. N.E. It’s free, but if you plan to attend, please RSVP to Elizabeth.Wexler@woodruffcenter.org or at 404.733.5326.

Young Audiences’ mission is to transform the lives and learning of Georgia’s young people through the arts.
