Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
Rachmaninov & Beethoven
Calm and crisis merge to great effect beginning with Mendelssohn’s hypnotic treasure, inspired by two poems by Goethe. Beethoven’s playful Eighth is contrasted by Wagner’s stormy overture suffused with the eternal ache of loneliness. Macedonian marvel Trpceski debuts in Rachmaninov’s final piano concerto.
