The Fifth is the most famous of all Beethoven’s symphonies, Brahms’s epic Piano Concerto No. 1, inspired in part by the death of Robert Schumann, his friend and mentor, will glow in the hands of Mr. Serkin. Webern’s loving rendering of Bach’s “A Musical Offering” is nothing short of magical.
