Serenbe Playhouse, which stages its site-specific shows outdoors in the Palmetto/Chattahoochee Hills area, is coming to Atlanta for two indoor shows, one each in May and September. No worries. The company still plans to maintain its nontraditional vibe.

Brian Clowdus, Serenbe founder and artistic/executive director, describes the shows as “titles that would never make sense outside but flourish in an intimate indoor setting.”

Intimate Indoors, as the series is called, begins with the comedy Buyer & Cellar, running May 19-21 at Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, a home furnishings store at 3081 Peachtree Road N.E.

Buyer & Cellar by Jonathan Tolins is a one-man show about an underemployed L.A. actor going to work in Barbra Streisand’s Malibu basement. Nick Cearley, a New York actor and one-half of the musical group the Skivvies, plays the only character, a man named Alex More.

Art, the 1998 Tony Award-winning best play by Yasmina Reza (God of Carnage) looks at the worlds of art and friendship and how they collide when a canvas that’s painted entirely white is purchased. The original three-person Broadway cast featured Alan Alda, Victor Garber and Alfred Molina. It runs Sept. 8-11 at the Atlanta Contemporary, 535 Means St. N.W.

Single tickets for both shows are $25 and available HERE or at 770.463.1110.
